Dr. Cassie Dougherty DC is a proud Frederick, MD native and 2013 graduate of New York Chiropractic College in Seneca Falls, New York.  She was inducted into the Phi Chi Omega honor society and was consecutively named to the Dean’s List.

She completed her undergraduate degree at Shepherd College in West Virginia.

While in clinic, she had the rare opportunity to intern with Dr. William Morgan at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD.  During her training, Dr. Dougherty practiced hospital-based chiropractic, which enabled her to work closely with the nation’s leading medical specialists to provide the most comprehensive and effective care possible for her patients.  She was honored to have cared for the courageous men and women who actively serve our military, as well as the wounded warriors who were both physically and mentally injured during their service.  It is because of this opportunity that Dr. Dougherty specializes in hospital-based chiropractic and care for multiple-limb amputees.

While at Walter Reed, Dr. Dougherty had the privilege of rotating through various departments and learning from the best physicians, specialists, and surgeons in the nation.  Some of her rotations included: wounded warrior physical and occupational therapy, pelvic floor physical therapy, gastroenterology, prosthetics, orofacial pain, rheumatology, diabetes clinic, nuerosurgery, orthopaedic surgery, EKG training, and inpatient chiropractic and physical therapy.  Additionally, she participated in an extended rotation in the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation department, where she learned basic EMG skills, dry needling, acupuncture, traumatic brain injury patient care, and witnessed various non-chiropractic pain management techniques.

While working under the supervision of Dr. Morgan in Maryland, Dr. Dougherty also had the chance to work among the sports medicine and orthopaedic teams of the United Stated Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD.  Here, she practiced chiropractic as a means for injury prevention and athletic performance enhancement.

Following her internship at Walter Reed, Dr. Dougherty trained at a sports chiropractic and physical therapy office in Gainesville, VA.  While there, she refined her skills in enhancing sport performance and injury prevention through the use of therapeutic sport taping, rehabilitative exercises, and various manual therapies.

She also participated in an injury prevention program for an elite swim team and developed hydration protocols to keep the team functioning optimally.

Now Dr. Cassie Dougherty DC is back in Frederick (wahoo!), practicing at Ballenger Creek Chiropractic (at 604 Solarex Ct #101 Frederick, MD 21703 ) alongside Dr. Brandon Steinbar.  Dr. Steinbar is the chiropractor that helped Dr. Dougherty after a serious weight lifting injury, and is the reason Dr. Cassie pursued a career in chiropractic.
